Problem: IDL starts in DEMO mode

    Diagnostic :
  • Starting IDL from rike command line produces : 
    
rike:~/idl > idl
IDL Version 5.3 (sunos sparc). (c) 1999, Research Systems, Inc.
% Trial version expired.
% Entering timed demo mode for IDL. Each session is limited to 7 minutes
  of operation. Printing and file saving are disabled.

    Explanation :
  • No IDL license attached / available.

    Solution :
  • On rike prompt, request license from pmas license server. Type :
    
slpmas

  • If still unsuccessful, login to pmas and start IDL license manager, type :
    
lmgrd
    Back on rike, repeat step from above: 
    
slpmas
  • Alternatively, request license from CAHA license server. Type :
